“While not as subtle as the other choices on the list, abusing someone else with physical force usually works. The victim will usually cave in to your verbal and physical demands. Beware of the victim seeking help, usually in the form of counseling or straightly going to the police, as this can portray you in a negative light”

what has the world come to that an actual webpage on how to manipulate people to get them to do what you want is available to the world? the top ten tactics to manipulate someone. and abusing its only number five. it gets worse as you go down the list. actually every single one of the options is bad because its promoting human manipulation.  the saddest part is that every single one of them works and are used daily by many people in various communities.  the fact that society promotes the attitude and concept “every man for himself” is pathetic. but hey, its reality.  Manipulation is a common theme throughout the ages, from shakespeares wonderful tragedies, to popular hollywood movies like Wanted. yeaahh its the first one that came to mind but im sure theres many more.  i mean what do you expect to see in society when little kids who watch disney movies like snow white or cinderella have manipulation shoved down their throats?  yeah, they probably don’t pick up on those themes at three years old but it soaks into their brains and remains there until one day they’re sitting in jail due to failed manipulation in a drug scheme. okay, okay thats a stretch but you get the point?  yes i must admit i am being quite hypocritical because i too have manipulated people to get what i wanted. its almost human nature. a survival tactic. its survival of the fittest in this jungle of a world we live in and if we dont manipulate, we fail.  i’d like to think bad people get what is coming for them but truth is bad people end up on top. you manipulate you win. end of story. now if everyone stopped manipulating then BAM hello beautiful, perfect (well semi perfect) society. except thats almost as hopeful as saying if everyone stopped driving cars there’d be no global warming.  not much of a chance of that happening is there? i’ll try to be optimistic but i also have to be realistic.  people love to get what they want. greed drives our society. yeahh thanks wallstreet for the depression or recession or economic downfall. whichever one you prefer, depending on how well you can handle the truth. when it comes to manipulation here’s the truth: everyone has alterior motives.  deep down inside everyone wants whats good for them, not others.  im sure even mother teresa was selfish. shes a saint but i know she manipulated at least one person. its inevitable.  I dont think all forms of manipulation is bad. it truly depends on your motives.  i also understand that everyone manipulates someone every once and a while, but people should slow down on that manipulation status. i mean its natural to want whats best for yourself but lets hope you’re not on the Abigail hype.  The “let’s accuse everyone of witchcraft and hung to save ourself” hype.  it’s a scary world out there my friends.  we live in a manipulation nation. now strap up, and let the games begin.

Hello! I’m curious to know if you really believe, referring to a line towards the bottom of your paper, that “deep down inside everyone wants whats good for them, not others”? I do agree that everyone can be manipulative of others to get what they want; but do you ever think that there comes a time where manipulation is necessary to promote the wellness of others? Because humans can manipulate for different reasons, and there are those who believe that the ends do justify the means. Although I suppose that if the whole world thought along those lines, we might be in some serious trouble.

    Hey Marquan Jackson!
Manipulation Nation. It has a nice ring to it, but it is actually two VERY scary words to be used together. I like how you said everyone is guilty of manipulation. I know for sure that I do it all the time. And yes, it’s to get my way and get what I want. My main victim is my dad. I know the exact time when he is most vulnerable. I know exactly how to phrase my questions to ensure he will say yes. Now, don’t jump to conclusions, the most I ask for is a Saturday night with my friends. But still, I usually need his permission so knowing exactly how to get it comes in useful. When did I learn this skill? Well I can’t even tell you, but somewhere along the line of growing up I learned how to be a master manipulator. The scary thing is, if I can master this skill, can’t others do it too? How many people have become accustomed to manipulating on a day to day basis? Is this how people survive? Off the weakness of others? Not such a comforting thought. Well, I really liked how you addressed this subject because it made me realize and think about things in a more profound way. Thanks!
